Artwork made with Wood

Wood - the hard fibrous substance beneath the bark of trees.

Other cultures appreciate the "spirit of a tree." The Japanese call this spirit Kodoma. This spirit causes the Japanese to revere their trees, to care for them, and actively promote reforestation. Another culture with a great respect for wood is the Northwest Native Americans. As I observed my favorite Native American artist work, I learned that the cedar he uses is 1,000 years old. I have found a source for this ancient wood and have been shaping it for my own pieces.
